Academics

At Benson, all of our students' graduation requirements are met through a variety of courses in Math, English, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Languages, and Health and PE. AP classes allow students an opportunity to engage in critical thinking, preparing them for both their AP exams and a future college experience. Students who have other plans are also able to grant themselves more time to focus specifically on their majors, preparing them for a future career in their chosen area. All students at Benson are able to choose their classes in order to graduate from Benson ready to take on their future.

Mathematics

Mathematics courses at Benson Polytechnic High School extend from basic algebra up to AP Calculus. Students are taught a variety of math skills throughout their courses which they are then able to utilize in science classes and their major.

English

At Benson, we offer basic English classes along with several options for students to get involved in higher level thinking. Our Pre-AP and AP English courses allow students to delve into more difficult texts and prepare them for college-level writing.

Science

Benson offers several science classes that present students with different laboratory experiments and teach them how to create scientific inquiries. AP courses are offered for students who truly wish to challenge themselves.

Social Studies

Social Studies classes at Benson are mostly historical, but we also teach classes in Government and Economicss. Students are able to learn both about their country's past and how it works today through reading textbooks and participating in class activities.

Foreign Language

The only foreign language offered at Benson is Spanish. While there are only 2 years of this language, students are able to learn both lingual and cultural elements about various Spanish-speaking countries.

Health/PE

Freshmen students at Benson are required to fulfill their Health and PE graduation requirement that year. Through rigorous physical exercise and learning about the human body, students are able to come to a greater understanding of themselves and their growing bodies.
